Flowcharts and mo' charts
This is a flow chart displaying how our project works, kind of like a "Verse for Dummies".
Click the image to view it in full size... This is so complicated, but at least visually its a bit easier to understand.
Also, what happened today with texting, according to Nathan:
"so as new texts come in they fade onto the book page! its not as nice as typing out however we can't use javascript, which makes the typewriter effect, and load a text file from a computer. So with a bit of tutorial reading, copying and modifying Cam and I managed to use AJAX to load the text file and animate the latest SMS sent to our phone and adding to our previous SMS's :) Now the tough part is getting the pages to "turn" when the page fills up."

sensor this! nkgbnjnsjsbnso...
Alrighty, a little week recap...
Rose and I have been working on our book... but then Cam and I found a book that was already bound with way more pages... so much better... so Rose and I made it look OLD!

Tuesday I ordered the pressure sensors from HVW, got them Wednesday, and Thursday we tried setting them up in class. NOT as easy as I thought. I set up the breadboard and then programmed the basic stamp with a simple analog input code. The sensor was SO all over the place--throwing numbers from the 200s to 1600s for sensitivity. ACK! So Monday we may try to figure it out, tweak it and suck, y'know.

More to come...
Crit on Thursday...

nova media & book binding
Rose and I did the basic binding for our book--we still have to put a cover on it, as well as incorporate the sensors. I am thinking pressure sensors... Steve suggested a couple different types of sensors, so I will look into them this weekend and hopefully come to a conclusion.
Cam and Nathan have been working hard on the code to make the cell phone talk with the twitter account (or something like that...)
Cam explains:
"I have been syncing the phone to a sms application on the computer;
that application sends the data to an existing email script;
which then adds it to the story."
Cam and Nathan have been using fonelink by Nova Software.
Our book so far (its huge!):

talk to me, text to me
this past week, we have been finalizing ideas and we have come to the conclusion that we are making a book. A REAL BOOK; but a digital real book. I know, I know, sounds kind of complicated, but we basically want to make an "add to the story" book, where participants in the piece text message "@myverse (your story here)" to 21212 and add to the story. Cam and Nathan are working hard on completing the code for the text messaging, and Rose and myself (Diana) are working on the book and its aesthetics. There are many kinks we still have to work out. An artist's statement will be added shortly so that you know what we are actually talking about.
